I guess if life gives you lemons, or junk mail, or any other shit you don’t want- toss them into a flaming gas pit in the middle of the desert! That’s essentially what had to happen when I went to Turkmenistan and the 7 days I was supposed to have got cut down to 2, but at least I was able to make it here to the Darvaza Gas Crater which was my on my list of things to see in Turkmenistan. I finished up a photo essay the other day of my whole 2 days spent in the country- you can check it out on adventuresoflilnicki.com, or not, whatever 🤷🏽‍♀️ ————————————————- Still have a couple more spots on that Central Asia experience and a half with @inertianetwork in Tajikistan, Pakistan & China this summer, I promise we’ll go some really cool places and get some amazing photographs, pinky promise —————————————————

🌌Stargazing under the Pamiri sky in Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor. ———————————————————- Wanna join me and @inertianetwork on our Silk Road adventure in June and July and experience nights like this in Tajikistan and Pakistan? Click the link in my bio or visit @inertianetwork where you can sign up for the trip or get updates if you’re not sure about joining yet. Borders aside, where we will be visiting in Tajikistan’s Badakhshan and Pakistan’s Hunza Valley aren’t too far from where I shot this photo in Afghanistan last year. ————————————————————

After a couple rounds of hide-and-go-seek in a forest of umbrellas Sami (my Socotri guide) told me to throw him my camera so he could take a picture of me peeking out from what we (Sami, Ahmed- the 4x4 driver, and I) deemed the best looking Dragon Blood Tree on the Dixam Plateau. Socotra as well as mainland Yemen were my on my travel list. Also, Yemen was the first country I visited in the Middle East, so it’s pretty obvious that easing into a region isn’t the way I do things. Not to mention I went by myself, and it turned out to be one of the least loneliest trips I’ve taken. ——————————————- For those that are going to ask: I took this photo 1,472 days ago- just a few days over 4 years ago, so no, I don’t have the answers on how to get to Socotra right now. There’s three tours going there this spring that I’m aware of, however I’ll believe it when they make it... I’d love to take a group of you out here, but I’ll wait on that. However, in the meantime I can take you to my favorite destination: Tajikistan, but there’s significantly less trees. ——————————————

Have you heard of Transnistria? Transnistria (also called Pridnestrovie in Russian) is a de-facto state that declared its independence from Moldova in 1990 which lead to the Transnistrian War from 1990-1992. This tank is part of the Transnistrian War Memorial in the heart of the capital city of Tiraspol. Transnistria is not recognized by most of the world, in fact the only states that recognize it as its own country are three other breakaway regions: Abkhazia, South Ossetia and the Republic of Artsakh (formerly Nagorno-Karabakh). Last summer I was able to visit Transnistria again for a second time. If you’re planning to go to Moldova or Ukraine it’s definitely worth a visit, you can read up on how to visit and what do and see in Transnistria in my latest article at adventuresoflilnicki.com —————————————————-

👋🏽 Salam Aleykum guys! I have yet another big announcement: We’ve shifted the dates on the upcoming Tajikistan, China and Pakistan expedition I’m co-leading with @inertianetwork after several requests and have split it into two back-to-back trips for those that want to join half or all of the trip. From 23 June to 1 July come experience the farthest reaches of China and Tajikistan (and briefly Kyrgyzstan) to explore Kashgar’s bustling bazaar and interesting Sunday Animal Market, then on up and over the Irkeshtam Pass into Kyrgyzstan where we’ll link onto the famed Pamir Highway and continue into Tajikistan to experience life in the High Pamir with local nomadic people before crossing the more newly opened to foreigners Qolma Pass back into China. The second leg of the trip will take place 28 June to 8 July taking us to explore Kashgar and Tashkurgan before getting on the high altitude Karakoram Highway to cross the Khunjerab Pass into Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan to explore the stunning Hunza & Yasin Valleys. Of course you can always join for both sections as well. We do already have a few people already signed up for the trip, so space is limited! You can click the link in my bio to read more about the trip or go check out @inertianetwork as well as sign up for the trip update list via the link in their bio! ——————————— I shot this photo from my drone on one of my many treks in the Pamir Mountains last summer, This is Tsaxinkul Lake about a day of trekking from the village of Bachor, just off the Pamir Highway. ——————————-
